The South Building was built in 1907. It was later named the Charles Hernly Building in honor of the many accomplishments of Charles Hernly was was instrumental in bringing the Maxwell Auto Plant, the Hoosier Manufacturing Company and the Krell-French Factories to New Castle. Through his efforts New Castle, Indiana grew very rapidly in the early 1900’s.
