139th Annual Meeting Highlights: Henry County Welcomes Celebration of America250!

The 139th Annual Meeting began with City of New Castle Mayor Greg York signing the below proclamation, kicking off America250! in Henry County. Bill Ward (Henry County Veterans’ Museum); Ruth Rinehart (Regent, Sarah Winston Henry Chapter, NSDAR); Kaye Ford, Accredited Genealogist® (America250! Chair in Henry County); and Mayor York read different sections of the proclamation, demonstrating a joint effort in commemoration.

HCHS elections were then held. Incumbents JoAnn Edwards, Kevin Stonerock, and Kathy Rogers retained their positions while Tom Saunders and Marianne Garrard were newly elected. Congratulations!

Dr. Thomas Whiteman, co-chair of the Indiana Semiquincentennial Commission, then spoke about national and statewide America250! activities in the works. He provided many great examples for what Henry County could celebrate in the coming months.

The Sarah Winston Henry Chapter NSDAR provided refreshments to our lovely guests. We look forward to seeing you in 2027 for the 140th Annual Meeting, slated for Sunday, April 25, 2027, 2-4 p.m. at the Museum!
