Today, we are wrapping up Township Trivia for Henry Township and what a fun two weeks it has been! There is so much more about Henry County and all her townships at the Museum…there just isn’t enough room on the internet! If you can, stop by and see what all we have. Next week, we will begin Harrison Township trivia.
The winning basketball team was from year 1932 and included players Milford Day, Harold Hickman, Donald Wildman, Bobby White, Bill Thoman, Merle Sipple, Howard Dungan, Vernon Huffman, Merrit Kersey, and Dale Dakins. Fun fact: Birch Bayh was one of the officials of the championship game!
We’ll wrap up these two weeks with a man born and raised in New Castle who became famous in World War I for his “won’t give up” attitude, which embodies the spirit of Henry County. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor, Commander. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. Who was this man?
